Let’s assume you’re reading this to promote a website. Your website needs traffic and getting that traffic to your site requires either significant time or money and usually both. Let’s assume here that you’re looking at getting ads for free as far as cost is associated. You’re not necessarily looking for something that will magically appear and grant you “free advertising wishes”. So, if you’re willing to take the time to do some simple things on a regular basis, this article will help you find methods of generating traffic back to your website FOR FREE.
The first thing to start with on a very easy level is to become active in communities and websites with topics similar to the topic your website is about. You can find these very easily by searching within Google on both their blog search as well as within the Google groups. Take time to become involved in the community before you go all out and start plugging your website. You should consider having at least 5-10 posts that contribute more than, “great post, thanks!”. Think through what you want to say and add value to the conversation. Participate in forums where you have the option for a “signature” box with the ability to include a link back to your site. Wherever possible, use the keyword that you’re trying to get found for as the anchor text as an added SEO benefit.
This may not produce a ton of traffic, but keep in mind, it’s free. If you’ve done your homework on keywords and use them effectively as anchor text, the search engines will begin to rank your site higher and higher. The more natural links, the more chances you have of getting your website listed in the search engines which is quite possibly the best possible “free” advertising you can even get.
Now, there’s a lot more to SEO than I can even begin to talk about in this article, so I’ll continue with some of the other free advertising methods. If you go to Yahoo and click through to the Yahoo Answers section you can search for keywords for questions people are actually asking and respond to those questions and place a link back to your site wherever appropriate. These typically add the “nofollow” attribute so they won’t do much good for search engine optimization, but they will get you traffic to your site depending on how good you are at providing expertise.
You can also search on Google’s Blogsearch and find relevant blogs that allow commenting and put a link back to your own blog or website (not usually in the actual comment, but put it in if the blog owner has a URL field). Remember to contribute and add value. Often your ability to add value to a blog will can generate significant results for incoming traffic to your blog.
The next technique is quite possibly a more advanced technique, but for those of you wanting to get into this, you can also get into sites like Digg.com and Stumbleupon.com and watch those top “diggers” or “stumblers” and see what websites they’re stumbling or digging and where appropriate or available, add a comment to the blog itself with a link back or even a comment on the actual Digg page with the link. These comments may produce some residual traffic to your profile where you will have already put in the sites and projects you’re working on. You can also contribute to several of these sites through Digging or Stumbling sites and adding your site for Stumblers.
When doing all of this “free” advertising, quite possibly the most important thing to do is to have some sort of analytics package on your site. Without this analytics installed, you’ll have no idea what is working and what isn’t. This is critical so you can truly tell where to put most of your resources. If you get a ton of traffic from Stumbleupon.com but virtually no traffic from some forum, you will want to know this so that you can know where to spend your time in the future.

A few months ago, when I was trying to help a newbie learn to market. He told me had tried several online business. Including EDC Gold, Reverse Funnel System, Passport To Wealth and Wealth Funnel System. Now my first words to him were, “wow did you waste alot of money.” Not that any of these business are bad, they all work, but you just need to know how and why they work. Some many people are quick to yell out scam with any of these. But the sad reality is that they are not scams. The reason people lose money is because they dont know what they are doing. Plain and simple.
Now I get phone calls all the time from people in EDC Gold who joined with another sponsor who will not help them. Even people who joined with the “guru” top earners who claim to be able to teach and show anyone.
Now the reality is that they have to deal with 1000’s of people, so you are going to have to get your feet wet if you want to make it online. So this brings up my first point, make sure you are joining someone who not only knows what they are doing, but someone who has the means and time to help you. Now I personally have people on my team who did join with *the current top earner (as of July 2008)* and he just blows them off and says do the training in the back office.
Now they have had to pay me to get the one on one training that they need, because anyone who needs to much help gets pushed away and quits. Now when you keep jumping from one business to the next, your hurting the entire industry, increasing the failure rate that some claim to be around 95% overall. Now I think this is a little skewed because many people will fail at a whole bunch of business. And then that got me thinking, only 5% of people in offline business or careers ever get rich, so why wouldnt it be the same percentage online. Make it what you will… it doesnt matter. Stop jumping from one business to the next hoping one will work.
If you cannot make one work, what makes you think you can make 3 or 4 work? Its not the product, even though all these companies have great products, no one has ever made it big online without knowing how to market. so find someone to teach you how to market. Yes it is that simple, but youre not going to learn overnight, it may take 2 weeks, or even 2 months. That depends on you and your learning curve.
Now the third and most important thing about joining an online business would be making sure the owners are available by phone. This is one thing EDC does offer, where the others hide behind emails. Now if the owners put in this amount of effort, dont you think it might be worth your time to do the same? Emails are so easy to ignore, especially when you fall behind and can do a mass delete.
So when joining and online business like EDC Gold or Reverse funnel System, Passport to Wealth or even an unheard of online business. You need to make sure the person your joining with with help you on the phone when you need it. Make sure you stick with it long enough to learn how to market and earn, before deciding its a scam. And third, find an online business that you can not only contact your sponsor by phone, but also the owners, after all, if nothing else, you just may hit it off with someone powerful who will take you under thier wing to show you first hand how the internet works.

Sometimes the winds of change blow through my life and it seems as though everything is crumbling. When that happens here is what I usually do.
TRY TO FIX IT
First I try my best to run around and pick up the pieces thinking I will just put everything back in their original shape. Right!
DENY IT
Just like puzzle pieces that have become saturated with water and distorted, when it is time for a change, the pieces of my life do not fit together in the same way they used to. No matter how much squishing and pressing I do when there is no room there is no room. Denial only slows down the transformation process.
COMPLAIN AND WORRY
I may try to act calm on the surface while turmoil brews inside. I try to ignore the signals. I call my friends to complain. I wake up in the night worrying.
ATTEMPT TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT
I try to figure out what I am doing wrong. Guess what? This does not work either. In fact none of the above work in my favor for very long.
Finally when I have thoroughly worn out my resistance to change - or when I remember that I have other options I do what works.
RELAX AND SURRENDER CONTROL
By the time I finally realize that no amount of stress and worry and orchestration on my part is going to get me the results I want I have already struggled myself into exhaustion. That is when I might finally surrender control and begin to relax.
ACCEPT
I can be relentless in my effort to control the external events of my life and it often takes pure frustration before I realize this very important fact: The old life - condition, situation, relationship - whatever - is changing, and I would do much better to accept that fact.
BE ACCOUNTABLE
Ease begins to enter the scene in the moment that I am conscious enough to remember this: I have been passionately praying, visualizing, setting my inner compass and writing in my journal about the new life I want to create, for many months. Why is it such a surprise to me when my old life falls apart? I asked for a new one!
REALIZATION AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
I am the one who has set the very changes I am resisting into motion in the first place!
When we acknowledge our desires and define our hopes we set powerful creative forces in motion. Within the creative process there are periods of time when, what is old and outdated naturally decays and must dissolve in order to make room for what is coming.
Having been through major life upheavals more than once in my life I now recognize the signs more quickly. Often changes still take me by surprise. I find it helps when I am diligent in my self-care. It is best when I maintain the practices that keep me centered at my core. And sometimes I need to rely on the people who care about me for comfort and support during wobbly times before the land of my new life is formed.
EXCITEMENT AND ENTHUSIASM
A sign that I am well on my way to living a new vibration, and attracting the new life I have desired is when I shift from resisting change to celebrating it. When my excitement and enthusiasm returns I am back in the flow of the dreams that I have set in motion.
And then there are only two things that need my attention.
TRUST
I need to make a choice to trust life and it’s magnificent unfolding.
LISTEN TO INTUITIONS
And I need to listen deeply for the intuitive hunches and gut knowing that guides me one step after another into the changes I have called forward.
Change is not logical. It is also something we human beings are not entirely comfortable with. If you are facing change, in any room of your life right now, I invite you to remember that you are the force that has initiated what is happening.
