One thing that new WOW players often struggle is getting gold in order to afford gear and new abilities or spells. Loot is generally not worth much and you should usually just clear out all of it to a vendor. However, it is important to make sure you do not sell something that is very valuable to a vendor who will only give you a couple of silver. First check the auction house to see what the item sells for. If you can make a decent amount there put it up for sale. I always put items up for a little under the Lowest price up there. It makes your items sell fast and makes sure that your gold is not tied up in auctions that are not selling.

The second option might not yield as much silver/gold in each sitting, but over time you can amass great wealth by being consistent with it. Plus, you build a reputation of being the go to person when someone needs something.

Mining is your main cash cow at low levels. A stack (20) of Copper Bars sell for about a gold on most servers and often a bit more. A stack of Rough Stone will sell for about 20-25 silver in most cases. Make sure to keep your Find Minerals ability on at all times, it is invaluable in finding hidden mining spots. Once you find a few spots in an area you can do a loop few minutes with grinding in between. Try to get a rough idea of how long it takes them to respawn and do the loop when you know they are about to respawn. Every mine should have about 2-4 copper ore so about 7 mines will give you a stack. Remember that if others are using a mine you should not steal it from them, you should either leave it alone or ask if you may share it.
